Wedstival

'Tis the season... and a cool way to get married...

Wedstival

We are entering the season of the festival but you don't have to get married at Glastonbury (pictured above) to have a festival style wedding - a 'Wedstival'. We've chosen our favourite 'festival' venues from across the country and we can guarantee that Great Aunt Bertie will be relieved that she isn't having to use a chemical toilet....

South Farm on the Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire borders is a delightful place. Set in 20 acres of landscaped grounds and beautiful gardens surrounded by a smallholding, the main house adjoins a courtyard of lovingly restored timber framed barns (pictured below), granaries and stables. Not only that, they have a number of enchanting Romany Caravans or camping in one of our paddocks. How lovely does that sound?

A bit further north is the glorious Whetstone Gorse, set in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, in the south of Leicester. A working farm, Whetstone Gorse offers a wide range of leisure and event facilities, including camping. Pictured below is their beautiful gardens.

V&A Wedding Dress Exhibition

Opening Soon! 03 May to 15 March 2015

V&A Wedding Dress Exhibition

There is no excuse not to go to this fabulous exhibition, partly because it's on for quite some time, but also because it features such a huge array of amazing dresses! Highlights include the dip-dyed pink and ivory John Galliano-designed dress worn by Gwen Stefani at her wedding to Gavin Rossdale; and the glorious Vivienne Westwood dress worn by Dita Von Teese for her marriage to Marylin Manson.  The exhibition doesn't just feature celebrities but also features historical figures - it spans 1775 to 2014 - and royalty including the Duchess of Cornwall's beautiful dove-grey silk dress designed by Anna Valentine, and worn with a Philip Treacy hat.  It also features the cutting edge of the fashion world, including Kate Moss and Dazed and Confused fashion editor Katie Shillingford, who wore an incredible gothic creation by Gareth Pugh - we particularly loved the pink hair, and the bridesmaids wore black - check it out!  We're going to this exhibition as soon as we possibly can but if you get there before us, let us know what you think...

Brides The Show!

Battersea Evolution, Battersea Park, London on 22-23 March 2014

Brides The Show

After the success of their first ever bridal show last October, Brides magazine are holding another one this coming weekend.  They really do have the most incredible exhibitors, including (as pictured here) Temperley Bridal and Emmy Shoes. They say it's going to be a fully immersive experience, where you can try on the make-up or create your own wedding day details in their imagination room!! Not only that, you can take advantage of the champagne and food tastings which will be going on throughout the day. If you're thinking of going then you need to book your ticket now, which you can do via their website

London Town Halls

Are a very cool way to get married...

Ealing Town Hall

The famous Old Marylebone Town Hall (weddings here include Liam Gallagher - twice!) is currently closed for refurbishment, for the next two years. They normally carry out at least 2000 weddings every year - wow! But if you were thinking of a town hall wedding there are quite a few other fantastic town hall options.  Three of our favourites include Ealing Town Hall, Hackney Town Hall and Stoke Newington Town Hall. all listed here on the site.  Built in 1887, Ealing Town Hall (amazing staircase pictured here) is a spectacular Grade II* listed Victorian building.  It has really stunning architecture and offers loads of different chambers and rooms in which to get married.
