Fabulous Outdoor Wedding Venues

in the English Countryside….

Fabulous Outdoor Wedding Venues
We have many wonderful venues on the site which offer an outside space where you can hold a ceremony. In England, to make it legal, you have to get married in a permanent structure but this can literally mean anything from pavilions, gazebos, bandstands - even a tree house as long as it has a proper roof! The guests can remain outside so they don't have to be big. In Scotland, outdoor weddings are legal and there doesn't have to be a permanent structure at all. We have featured four great venues here but there are many more to choose from on the site….

Barnsley House was built in 1697 of Cotswold stone and the house and grounds have gained international acclaim as a place of remarkable beauty so it's gothic summer  is pretty much the perfect place to hold your ceremony.

Exclusive Hire for 3 days…

at The Green Cornwall

Luxurious weddings

Kate Moss did it, and so did George Clooney. But you don't need their bank balances to stretch out your wedding celebrations. Rather than cram everything into one day, why not take a more leisurely approach and we can't think of anywhere better to do this than The Green, Cornwall. Set in a beautiful private estate surrounded by orchards, meadows and a lake, it is the ultimate luxurious escape. There is a main house which can accommodate 12 and 6 further self catering cottages. They offer exclusive use of the whole of the Green for 3 nights weekend, or 2 night midweek and in their own words: 'Relaxed and original or traditional and formal: The Green can be whatever you want for your wedding. Our wedding planners can organise everything for you, or we’ll just provide the venue.'

There are several options for where you can hold the ceremony - either indoors; in the wedding barn or function room or outside under our beautiful arbour.  Catering can be fine dining or a hog roast or pasties and Pimms. Then dance the night away under a veil of stars with a live band, disco or Cornish Ceilidh. How very lovely does this sound?? We think it would very probably suit a Wedstival type bride but without any of the discomfort!

Budget Wedding Venues

How expensive should your wedding be..?

Budget Wedding Venues

This is such a topical debate at the moment!  On this week's Radio 4's You and Yours guest Kirsty Allsopp talked to host Winifred Robinson, and very firmly (almost bossily) made the point that people should not spend anything like the average £15,000 on their wedding day and instead should pour that money into a house or put it aside for a rainy day! Whilst we don't necessarily agree with the sentiment of NOT celebrating your wedding, we do think it's important to work within your own personal budget. The recent lavish celebrity weddings do send some people off on a crazy, whirlwind, money-spending spin (and if you listened to the Your and Yours programme and heard Rod Liddell's former wife Rachel Royce describing their £30,000 wedding, then you'll know what we mean (although she had no regrets, despite him leaving her three months later!!). So here are our pick of a few less expensive weddings - if you want to keep things within budget but without sacrificing the style! If you are up north, check out Southport's Bold Hotel (lead image) which is situated on one of the town's oldest and most beautiful boulevards. And down south, it's worth checking out the Antoinette Hotel in Wimbledon, a beautiful suburb in London.  And even more centrally is the C&B Paternoster Square hotel, situated in the shadow of St Paul's cathedral.

Traditional Wedding Venues

As the formality and romance of days gone by makes a big return

Traditional Wedding Venues

One of the biggest wedding trends for 2014, inspired by last year's The Great Gatsby and Downton (yes, it's still a craze) is more demand for glamour and less 'bunting'. Think white-gloved waiters, and big band dancing, crystal and gold-rimmed china.  The brides are still longing for that elegance of the roaring twenties. We have already featured many art-deco and 1920s inspired venues so we thought we'd highlight something completely different this time and tell you about the glorious Beaumont Estate which is located in Old Windsor, Berkshire. It has several different rooms for you to hold your wedding, our favourite of which is the unique Chapel with its intricately painted ceiling, soaring up to 50 ft high (and also tapping
